Winter Games Legacy Fund
Established in 2001 using $60,000 the City of Kimberley had as a legacy from the Winter Games held in 1980. This was supplemented with a further $37,500 from the 2008 Winter Games held in Kimberley and Cranbrook. The revenue from this fund is given to the City of Kimberley to assist amateur sporting groups in the City of Kimberley. Each year KDCF receives applications for these grants and makes recommendations to the City on grant recipients. This grant process happens in January/February each year. On Sept. 30th of 2017, the market value of the fund was $133,000.
Established in 2001 with funds from Vancouver Foundation and Columbia Basin Trust totalling $100,000. In 2008 the Winter Games added $12,500 to this Fund. Other donations have also added to this fund, including further grants from Columbia Basin Trust. The purpose is to meet a broad range of needs in the community across a spectrum of charitable purposes. This includes arts, culture, sport, environment, health and education. These grants are awarded annually in the Fall. The area served by this fund is bounded by the old School District #3 area. On Sept. 30th of 2017, the market value of the fund was $211,000.
Bill Motek Memorial Fund
Established in 2002 by a donation from the family of Bill Motek of $75,000. The purpose of the fund is to support the work of The Pines Memorial and Development Society at the Kimberley Special Care Home (known as the “Pines”). This grant is awarded in November or December annually. On Sept. 30th of 2017, the market value of the fund was $90,000.
Established in 2010 with an endowment of $125,400 from the Kootenay Savings Community Foundation. These grants are awarded annually in the Fall, and cover the same purposes as the Community Fund above. On Sept. 30th of 2017, the market value of the fund was $143,000.
Theresa Cundiff Memorial Fund
Established in 2013 as a memorial to long-time Kimberley school teacher and KDCF Board Member, Theresa Cundiff, this fund is managed by the Vancouver Foundation and provides grants to any charitable group in Kimberley. On Sept. 30th of 2017, the market value of the fund was $10,500.
